Over the past 35 plus years so many DIVORCE lawyers have died here in the land of milk and honey, Southern California…. and a few infamous bench officers. Several actually and most I personally did not care for and I am sure that was shared towards myself by them… and who cares. Most of these lawyers even amongst themselves it is hell to pay as to how nasty they are to each other, it is like a sport! Manley Fried died on February 22, 2026 at a hospital in Tarzana. I was in the area that day and was curious why there were so many crows flying in what looked like the thousands! They were probably going to miss that lovely sense of humor that few spoke of, ‘funny’ Manley. Crows are very resourceful almost like a DIVORCE firms billing system, these crows will figure it out, they can fly over to Mt. Sinai Cemetery and do what crows love to do…. steal shiny stuff and shit! These birds could be lawyers!
“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers” was actually a compliment towards lawyers when you read further into what William Shakespeare’s was speaking of. However, who has not ever wondered why there are not more of these cash hound hustlers with BAR cards piled up in and around the court houses of America? This is a little off topic but just look at, ALEX MURDAUGH or a local miserable little worm, Thomas Vincent Girard, what was surprising was that these two Cons with B.A.R. cards were not honored at a Beverly Hills BAR Function! I lost count of the lawyers that said to me, ‘oh Tom Girard is huge leader in the legal community’. Christ, how these Kiss Ass Clowns can throw a dinner and honor each other and of course Bench Officers is right out of Central Casting! Nothing but incestuous!
A few of the big names decided to take their dirt naps during covid, Stephen A. Kolodny May 30, 2020 resting in eternity in Virginia….. I actually enjoyed Stephen but a more miserable person in a courtroom could not be found… one must wonder did he share DNA with Manley Fried? Funnier yet, Kolodny never got a huge sendoff… covid saw to that. Who can remember when Stephen A. Kolodny would not shut up or sit down at Ken Black’s funeral at Hillside. Kolodny hijacked the entire memorial service (a former employer of mine BTW ) Blah, Blah, Blah this fool went on forever that day. I swear I could hear Al Jolson screaming, “Stop, enough already”. I can still remember seeing Kolodny toddling down the hall of the Stanley Mosk with one of his ‘female’ associates. The gal was short and stout and had short silver hair and wore a mens suit and it looked as if Kolodny had found a miniature of himself. The gal is an attorney in Southern California and gay, thus the little black men’s suit… but just adorable, we had polly-poly and shortcakes, cute!
Sorrell Trope, Lawyer, one tough guy and a man who could make many judges wish they had called in ill any day that Trope showed up in court. Sorrel Trope was a class act and I have always said, not a better dressed lawyer could you find in the United States. Sorrell Trope died May 23, 2020 and I still miss those lunches at the Pacific Dining Car… interesting enough the dining car has closed, in June 2020, it was not going to be same without Sorrell Trope, Esq. camped out at one of the booths.
Robert Stefan Kaufman, Lawyer aka “Bob” aka “Malibu Bob”, another filthy rich divorce lawyer who decided to take the deep No Breather on September 17, 2023. Kaufman was a lover of fly fishing especially in Montana and I too love watching fly fishing from the banks of the streams that flow through our property here in Montana. Once in awhile I stand up and piss in the stream in “Bob’s”, memory….just nice and pees-full! The only redeemable characteristic in my opinion was his love of horses…. on the other hand he was another filthy rich DIVORCE lawyer.
After the years I spent in the mortuary business I still have a love and great memories of the hum of the embalming machine and that stench of death as it flowed from the veins from those on the table. The list goes on and to level it off a little did I mention Tina Schuchman who took her sod dive March 5, 2019 her birth name was Schwartbaum ( look at all the letters in these names ) I noticed that on some obituary it would be nice to plant a tree or if you really want to be honest, planting a field of poison oak might be more relevant for Tina…like many “ The String Cheese “ lady was always an annoyance to me. The last time I saw TEENA was hauling her ass out of Dept.2 on a scooter as she had lost the ability to walk. Should go on Shark Tank and try and sell The Tina Broom, sure, it sweeps and seats one for rides on moon lit nights.
Lilacs are one of my favorite bushes and hard to grow in California but easy in Massachusetts and Montana…how lucky am I to get to still see them each season…. stand by my dear friends there are more obituaries on the horizon I am sure the Grim Reaper is visiting many DIVORCE lawyers as they are hunched over their desks checking the receivables that they are due…..” The ‘Due’ Will Come “.
***We have been contacted as to some of my past ‘thoughts’ and for sure there are many lawyers that I have the deepest respect for and those people know who they are. My thoughts on the rest, you all, each and everyone of you know what I speak of and I am very comfortable with all that I write as well as my thoughts.
