Krispy Kreme

The best donuts are always on Martha’s Vineyard where we have a nice beach house to enjoy and reflect on the summers I spent here as a child. And along with that it is simple, America and its Donuts, it is Americana. Who can remember on a Sunday morning when donuts would be brought home and eaten with some great coffee? As a former police officer / deputy sheriff I am a donut expert with a pedigree in Jelly Filled! Back Door Donuts on the island has what is likely one of the best apple fritters in the world. Winchell’s in Los Angeles, Yum Yum Donuts and Donut Hut in Burbank on Magnolia….. the Donut Hut has the best jelly filled donuts ever, jelly spills out as you bite into them -these people take pride in making great donuts!

Now back to the land of absolutely horrible food, and ( even worse experiences with getting any labor to repair your house. The first thing you notice that it’s all white people and labor is ridiculous $$$$ ). Billings, Montana truly has the worst food in the world….. It would appear white men cannot jump and white people have issues with cooking great food. *** I think that personally it is all about the making of money first, make money at all costs first and then serve the most terrible food, most of the time! All these folks want to do is to take the money and run…. and yes, as I have stated the population is almost all white! There is no color, no ethnic faces making great food…. much of what I also happen to hate about Los Angeles. What am I going to do?

A few weeks ago I made the huge blunder of going to Krispy Kreme here in Billings, Montana -it was Sunday and my grandsons wanted donuts. Sooooooo, I thought well why not go to the “Famous” Krispy Kreme donuts? Well, I should have checked online the first one of these went under do to horrible business and likely horrible donuts. YELP on this one was so spot on as to how terrible it is. So they built a smaller Krispy Kreme and I guess expected a better result….… Place still sucks! Little did I know you are not allowed to enter this location to buy a donut and coffee and have a seat, only drive through…. the interior looks like a nuclear donut storm had hit, the place looks disgusting. There are donuts and donut boxes stacked high! I was told they only do fund raising and drive through, that beautiful donut machine that is a big attraction in some stores looks to be a mess, not the impressive machine you see at most Krispy Kreme locations.

Back to the story, our order was taken by a young female that you could tell did not like her job…. very common out here in Montana by the way. The tone in her voice was as if we had woken her up from some private time she was enjoying in the bathroom! Well, when we get home we opened the box and saw the worst looking donuts I have ever seen…. THE WORST! They were deformed, too much glaze was oozing off the tops, NO JELLY in the Jelly donuts… a teeny tiny speck was all you could find when you opened one. It took 2.5 custard donuts to make one donut, they were tiny! ***When I called and spoke to Grace her response was, “Oh I did not make those”. Seriously, and when I asked to speak to the manager, guess who that was, GRACE!!!! A nice young girl who certainly had no business claiming to be a manager…. sweet, cute and maybe a cheerleader and a joy to mom and dad, but never a donut maker! What we have here are very young teenagers destroying a brand of donuts by just screwing around and not taking their job seriously! I asked for a complete refund and told me they don’t do that ,but I could be put on a “Wish List” and the next time I came through to tell the whoever took my order that I was on the “Wish List”.

Well, the only Wish List I wanted was to hope and pray and maybe wish to never go back to that Krispy Kreme Donuts in Billings, Montana. Well I called the corporate offices of Krispy Kreme and told them what had happened to us and they sounded surprised as they do have standards for what their products are supposed to be and look like…… this was not one of the good locations obviously. I was told I would get my money back and they thanked me for reaching out…… I love calling the corporate offices of all these big franchises as the big bosses all think that things are just fine in these far away locations manufacturing chaos with nasty horrible donuts….. for sure they won’t forget my call, I have a great delivery when I am not pleased.

A few days later I did get a call from Nick, the General Manager of the Krispy Kreme in Billings, Montana and a nicer person to speak with could not have been found. Nick first said that he would see to it that I got my money back and was very sorry for the disastrous 2 dozens so called donuts that we got. *** I generally try not to go through drive through as in the case of El Polo Loco, they will shovel what they cannot sell directly to consumers face to face through that drive through window. Sure, you take the food you just ordered and down the road you go with the worse looking crap, not discovered till you get home! You really need to go into the store to see what they are putting into your carry out before you leave the location.

This would appear to be true at the Krispy Kreme in Billings, Montana too. Back to Nick, he tells me that he was not there and asked if I could send him a photo of the teeny tiny mini custard filled donuts. So I did, and he was not happy with what he was looking at and the fact that one of the young nit wits thought is was funny to send it out the window and into our car!

The bottom line is this, Krispy Kreme in Billings, Montana should be closed down as it is a fact they have no one on site that can manage this mess! This franchise here puts out the most disastrous mess they call donuts and have single-handedly GUTTED a NATIONAL BRAND, KRISPY KREME. Nick a great and I do think that he is on a sinking ship of donuts! I think with some qualified ‘mature’ people they could be successful. First is to get the place opened as designed, encourage people to stop for a coffee or a drink and have what should be some great donuts…… as of this moment, the only thing this place really needs is a wrecking ball and for the property to be cleared of this entire mistake that Krispy Kreme has become a part of.
