John with Courtney Love and Keith Fink

Nothing and I mean nothing is as good as good food, great music and even greater company and how tough is it to get all that together. Well that is just what I did the other night right here in Los Angeles at the Cicada Club. My son Mike and I were the guest of Hollywood super-slugger lawyer-to-the-stars, Keith Fink. And to add even a little more flavor to the evening was our mutual friend Courtney Love who was dressed in theme with the music for the evening from the 1930s. Courtney was looking absolutely fabulous and was a big hit with all the regulars at this great “Sunday Night” event. The owner himself, Mr. Adelmo Zarif, was our host and Richard the Maitre D gave us the best personal service imaginable. Very classy here folks, this club is based at the historic Art Deco Oviatt Building at 617 South Olive Street, Los Angeles, California. This place was jumping, live band and singer of the classics from the 30s and beyond. Being guest of the owner you can never go wrong. However, there were no unhappy faces in this crowd and the food — all of it — was just incredible, and the service…all I can say it was just a total class act. And best of all it was reasonable. The tables are nicely placed, the lighting is beautiful and the music…I cannot wait to go back. We arrived at about 7:00 P.M. and I did not want to leave…but we did after a tour of the very famous “penthouse.”

This event is on every Sunday night and during the week there are also different themes, you can check this all out at their website, www.clubcicada.com or by calling 877-463-7773 and for dinner reservations 213-488-9488. Tell them you saw this on desperatexes.com.

PS: If you have room for some coffee at the end of the evening, ask about the hand made cookies…my blood sugar was off that night!
