I do understand that term and thoughts behind to, ‘Never say never’, it is almost hallow ground to not make statements such as this… BUT,
never have we in 35 plus years of providing protective services as well as protecting estates and property have we ever had a serious issue. No injuries, no losses and no bodily injuries and that is because I have always done it my way, the right way. Not even during the Los Angeles Fires did we lose a home or have any homes burglarized or vandalized, NONE! Italy, Spain, Sicily, Mexico and of course the United States…. my methods cannot be beat.
Since I was a young Peace Officer, prison guard, deputy sheriff, U.S. Marshal or police officer I would look in wonderment and not understand the purpose of these big fat black guys in black suits being used as body guards? The icing on the cake is those ear pieces who are they talking to and the purpose was for what, ordering food? Or was it to show how you could get a suit to fit a morbidly obese fat pig? None of it made any sense to me as to what I understood the principals of threat management and how to deal with that….. You will never totally neutralize any threat, but to be aware and never forget to “look up”.
Almost as bad as the ill dressed black porkers are the white guys, military haircuts and those cheap Hawaiian shirts and of course the very dark sunglasses, and those frowns! All of this is useless if you have no idea what you are doing! Charlie Kirk had the best of incompetence you could ever have had, a total and complete clown show! Why was no one outside the immediate perimeter? Did anyone look up and either visit the buildings and skyline of this event? What about a team with a drone scanning the buildings and the roof tops? All of this was to some degree very preventable and in my saying that, I also believe that if someone wants you dead…. you are in fact a dead man/woman walking.
Fortunately I have had access to protective details with Secret Service, U.S. Marshals, local and State Police as well as FSB. I am a student of all the environments I have found myself in over the years and have never forgotten what I was blessed to have been on the inside to observe.
The other issue is that security is often not taken seriously as to the real needs and it comes down to money. Many, certainly not all give me a hard time as to costs and want just the very basic at which time I say, “sorry, I cannot help you and I walk away” fondly. I have taken the attitude of you are not getting it your way, it is my way or the highway. This is my industry and having performed these services for over 35 plus years in the private practice very successfully. The other item I believe with all my heart is to have the best of the very best and to pay them well!
There, you now know my secret and please don’t ever forget to ‘Look up’. While attending the police academy I can remember the instructor drilling us, “don’t forget to look up”. If someone had looked up and enjoyed the buildings and the skylines, Charlie Kirk would very likely be alive today.
