This is a conversation that I have had with many lawyers as to why do we / I do what we do for work. Most of the time I realize that I have a very short shelf life and when dealing with the wealthy everything is disposable. Including people like me, remember what they do to the people they love. We do the best work we can possibly do and even when the result is incredible, there is little or no appreciation. And when the result is less than fabulous that too is too bad, we do the best we can and can promise nothing.
This afternoon I was sitting and chatting with an old friend up on the 9th floor of the Stanley Mosk, the place known as the courthouse cafeteria.
And I was reviewing an email from a former client who was whining almost two years later. Keep in mind we did an incredible job on that assignment for her, especially with what we had to work with, LMAO the father of her child. Some clients, females, need to realize it was not I that fell under some losers spell and give him access to my genitalia and now the fight is on for custody of an innocent child, no it was not me…I swear!
My friend looked at me as I sat in wonderment and said, John…………….
THERE ARE TWO SERVICE PROVIDERS WHERE THE VALUE OF SERVICES RENDERED IN THE EYES OF A CUSTOMER GREATLY DIMINISHES WITH THE PASSAGE OF TIME
I sat looking at him and wondered, again, he spoke….. LAWYERS AND PROSTITUTES and never to miss a beat I honestly have to say that PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS also fall into this grouping without question.
And I again thought what choice do I have after 21 years in this game of hide and seek, dark and darker, happy and sad and big fat liars!
