John Nazarian: Judge Moody made the right call.

A federal judge in Florida did the right thing for Gabriel Brown, a former Army sniper and as far as this writer is concerned an American hero. Gabriel received the bronze star and saw heavy action in both Iraq and Afghanistan. When Gabriel returned to the United States he was like many veterans returning home, knowledge and ability and no place to utilize any of that and the frustrations. Many of my friends and staff are former military and at the same time they are members of both Federal, State and local law enforcement. And to some degree all of that has a certain military foundation, chain of commands, uniforms and of course guns.

Federal Judge Moody admonished Brown, telling him the following, “Your crimes were “extremely dangerous and violent” and then he cut him a huge break. Judge Moody stated, these crimes of bank robbery, “completely out of character”. Brown will get ‘in prison drug abuse help and PTSD treatment’. This is a federal prison and every good criminal knows that if you have to do time, Federal time is the place to be. Judge Moody could have placed a prison on top of Gabriel Brown and did not. Brown will do some time but no where close to the 30 plus years that the guidelines require. Even the prosecutor was moved by what he heard and observed by the defense.

At some point I am sure that Gabriel Brown will see this story, and here is my offer. Please contact us here at DESPERATEEXES.com and if I or someone on my staff can help you with some needs, we will gladly do that for you and your kids. There is no question in my mind that 80 percent of my staff and myself can do something to help you get through this little ‘detour’ in your life.

Judge MoodyFor Judge Moody, your Honor, you did the right thing in doing what you did. It was the right thing to do and you did it. You see your Honor, the system and courts in this great country we call America are working just fine. I am just one American who thanks you for being able to see the upside to this American Army hero, Gabriel Brown, and I want to thank you again.

Gabriel, when you stated, “And I’d like to apologize to my country. I love my country very much”. We believe you!
